Definition

Suppose M,N are Riemann surfaces. A map f:M→N is termed an analytic map or analytic mapping if given any coordinate charts φ:U1→V1⊂C and ψ:U2→V2⊂C on M and N respectively, the map:

ψ∘f∘φ−1:U1∩f−1(U2)→f(U1∩f−1(U2))⊂C

is a holomorphic function.
