Definition
A domain in the complex numbers, or simply a domain, is a connected open subset of the complex numbers . Complex analysis is the study of functions defined on domains.
Note that a function defined on a not necessarily connected open subset can be studied in terms of how it behaves on the connected components of that open subset, each of which is a domain.
